Recently the public had splash with the findings of abuse of Facebook user data. Unmitigated, there are about 50 million users whose data is leaked and called has been misused.

Responding to the case, Apple CEO Tim Cook also spoke. According to him, there needs to be a serious regulation to prevent similar cases from happening again.

"I think in certain situations this kind of problem is terrible and big, so there needs to be a well-made regulation," he said as quoted by Bloomberg, Sunday (25/3/2018).

Cook's statement slid as he attended the China Development Forum in Beijing, China. At that time, he answered questions about the need for restrictions on data usage after Facebook abuse cases occurred.

"The ability of a person to know what you have been looking for over the years, including other details of your life, in my view, that should not happen," he said.

He also said Apple had long worried that there are many people who submit data without knowing what to use. In fact, it is possible that data can be used to harm the user.

Just for information, the findings of leaks case of Facebook user data is known from a whistlelower named Christopher Wylie. To The Guardian, he admitted the social media user's data is misused by Cambride Analytica.

So, the data, revealed by Steve Bannon, a former consultant Donald Trump used for advertising campaigns and political interests of the United States (US). Not until there, the data is also on sale to many countries.

Related to this scandal, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg had already apologized to the public. He acknowledged a trust between Cambridge Analytica, Facebook, and Aleksandr Kogan as the so-called responsible party for leaking 50 million user data.

"This is a breach of trust between Kogan, Cambridge Analytica, and Facebook, but there is also a breach of trust between Facebook and users who share the data and hope we protect it.We plan to fix it," he said as quoted from Zuckerberg's official account.

He also said, Facebook has a responsibility to protect user data. Therefore, Zuckerberg said, if it can not protect user data, they are not eligible to serve the users of social media.

"I've been working to find out what's really happening and to make sure a similar thing will not happen again," he said. The husband of Priscillia Chan also said it has actually made some changes about the security of this data since 2014.

However, despite all the efforts, he feels that there is still a need to revamp the platform's security. He also said as the founder of Facebook, he is fully responsible for what happens on the platform.

"Although the Cambridge Analytica related problem does not recur with the current app, it does not change what has happened, we will learn from this experience to secure the platform and make our community safer in the future," Zuck wrote.

Three Steps To Do Facebook

Zuckerberg also revealed will immediately make efforts to anticipate it, which is likely to happen again in the future. He outlined three steps.

First, it will investigate all applications that have access to information, and they will audit all applications within Facebook that have suspicious activity.

"We're going to block developers from platforms that do not agree with this audit, and if we find a developer who misuses the data, we'll block it too," Zuckerberg said.

"Secondly, we will close access to developer data to anticipate abuse," he added.

And thirdly, Zuckerberg and his side want to make sure users understand which applications allow them to provide data, and which ones are not.

"Next month, we will launch a tool above News Feed, the tool can revoke the user data access permission," he concluded.
