Conflicts and arguments regarding drugwars....Can we expect a happy ending?

It wasn't long ago, when @drugwars team, launched a very promising and exciting game built on top of steem blockchain. The whole concept was brilliant. Creating your own empire from scratch...stealing virtual drugs from others....join in gangs...and the best part? Getting paid in steem!!

It sounded like a movie. Besides, who hasn't dreamt of being Pablo Escobar even if it was for one night only? I've been there...

There were many who got caught up in the hype and invested really big amounts of steem thinking that they would probably have an advantage against others who would find out about this game later on. Early adopters always win big...usually...

It also seemed like an investing opportunity for passive income and in fact, if someone checks the returns during the very early days of the game, it definitely was.

I don't really know if people decided to invest big because of the way the game was promoted but the thing is that in no time this game was the hottest subject on the chain. Everyone was talking and blogging about it. New users were registered by hundreds. But this had a cost, at least for those who had invested big.

Daily payouts either from drug production or from the heist dropped significantly. And we got to a point were newcomers were the ones who had an advantage against early adopters. I saw a comment by @etherpunk earlier today who used @holger80's bookkeeping tool and despite the fact that he has invested something like 400 steem in the game (if I am not mistaken), according to bookkeeping he will break even in something like 420 days or so...I cannot even imagine when and if those who spent thousands of dollars will...

I myself got caught up in the same hype. For my standards, 200 steem is a big investment for a game.

Now don't get me wrong here. I am not judging anyone. Nor the @drugwars team and of course not any player. What makes me sad though is that despite the fact that this game had all the requirements to sit on the top spot on the State of the Dapps for a long time, something went wrong. Horribly wrong.

All someone has to do is read this post and also their latest post and scroll down to the comment section...
I don't really think that players liked the idea of a new token replacing steem payouts in the not so distant future... Conflicts and arguments all over the place. And maybe they are right...On the other hand @drugwars team are doing their best in order to keep this game alive and go to the next phase...

But this had an impact...a negative impact actually. And that because despite the fact that drugwars is now sitting on the second spot on The State of the Dapps daily activity has dropped like a brick...

-35% is a big thing actually...especially considering the fact that only six days ago, when I wrote this article daily active users were almost 6.3K while now...less that 4K. And I can assure you that most of them are just logging in to put their drugs in the heist and not to "get involved" with the game itself.

Bottom line is...I hope that they can come up with a solution and fulfill the expectations they created but also the expectations users have from every new dapp that is being built on the chain...especially when people are already heavily invested into that.
