I asked someone this very question yesterday, "Why do you stay with him?"
The answers are never satisfactory. People stay for a variety of reasons, but I think they always involve hope for something better and fear of the unknown.
I hope that this small family finds their something better. I'm still waiting on my friend to gather the courage to leave.
Some woman don't know how to cope on their own. They just keep on living the way they do because they don't know how to otherwise. They lose their identity...it is so sad actually...
That's true. It's hard to be on the outside looking in and knowing that they need to get out, but also knowing that they won't. No amount of offering to help will actually help until they recognize the peril of their situation.
