YOUR ROLE IN THE FIGHT (My Cancer story) Part 3

We went round the school,University of Uyo town campus and annex and touched plaza then returned to school using the back gate.

There were 6 sky lanterns but 3 were misplaced in the process of setting things up.I strongly refuse to use the word stolen although that's exactly what happened.
The remaining sky lanterns were lit at strategic locations.

The first was to honour the fallen both in our faculties,Uniuyo,Nigeria and the world at large,the second was to honour the surviours and the last was specifically for late lady Naomi Obot (the reason behind Naomi Obot foundation).She died of breast cancer.

I showed the students how to carry out a breast self examination when we got to the female hostels and talked about the role of multiple sex partners in cancer when STI's result and are untreated or poorly treated overtime.

The music played graduated from hiphop to some very touching blues which got student's in tears.After letting go of the skylanterns and LED lighted balloons.

The only video I was able to find was that when the first sky lantern was being lit and students were in awe.
It almost got stuck to a transformer but thank goodness it didn't.

I'm happy the event went well.
I am happier that I agreed to be used as a vessel to help in the fight against cancer.

This has been my cancer story so far.

Don't worry I did not have cancer.
Those that have cancer cancervive.

This memory is dedicated to one of my favourite lecturers who just died some says ago because of cancer.
I cried because I would have to be honouring her next year.
I cried because she was too good and I miss her.
Let us join in the fight against cancer.
It doesn't have to be on only world cancer day.
Tell someone to tell someone how to avoid cancer.

10 TIPS TO PREVENT CANCER

● Quit smoking:You can add up to 10years to your life by quitting smoking
●Get screened:Get screened regularly
For the ladies,don't forget a breast self examination regularly and a pap smear once in a while.
●Lose excess weight:Ovarian and pancreatic cancers have beem linked to excess weight.
●Be active:Regular exercise helps.
●Eat more vegetables:Vegetables are good antioxidants,infact stay natural if possible.Veggies are healthier than processed foods.
●Limit alcohol consumption:Liver and colon cancer are associated with excess alcohol.
●Limit salt intake:Excess salt in food is unhealthy and increases risk of coronary heart diseases as well as cancer.
●Cut back on red meats:Taking sea foods and lean meat have been proven to reduce risk of cancer.
●Wear sunscreen:The easiest way to prevent skin cancer is to wear sunscreen amd protective clothikg when under exposure to all forms of radiation including sunlight.
●Breastfeed:Breastfeeding has beej proven to reduce the risk of breast cancer in females(mothers) and mouth cancer in infants.
