Wednesday Walk: Very hot day to buy some books,

in #busy5 years ago (edited)

This is my late entry for #wednesdaywalk hosted by @tattoodjay. Last week I went into the city center hoping to find some books. The day was very hot with strong sunshine that would easily cook a fried egg on the road or hot pavement.

I really missed good bookshops like those we could find in London, such as Dillions and Waterstones in the old days. These bookshops were about three and four floors’ buildings stacked full of books. Even in a small town there, we could still find at least one good bookshop full of diverse choices of subjects. But I am talking about the past as many book shops have gone out of business. It is much easier to browse for books in bookshops than on the internet, it is much more fun walking around those shelves hoping to be surprised by some books’ titles.

I decided to go to the big Japanese bookshop at the shopping mall called the Emporium on Sukhumvit road. But that bookshop disappeared that’s just showed how long since I had been to a bookshop. I have become illiterate! Social media has to share the blame! Haha! I found out that the bookshop has moved to the new complex on the opposite side. I had to walk across the open court between the Emporium and the luxurious mall called Emquartia! The sun was so bright that I had to look up at the sky. I just had to take these photos of high rise buildings against the sky which seemed surreal to me! I felt like I was in a sci-fi film where robots and AI rules the world.

Those are great shot's!

I'm thinking i must move to England or Canada - somewhere cool. Or have a house with central AC :)

Thanks! These photos were taken in haste as I didn’t want to get heat stroke in the middle of the day.

I do agree you should move to somewhere much safer. The economic turmoil coupled with social upheavals in America don’t bode very well for the future. Besides the grand solar minimum is going to hit the agricultural sector harder next year, there will be more extreme weather and food prices will rise. Hyper inflation can be expected next year.

Life is going to be much harder, people who depend on 401K will suffer badly.

You’ve got to have lots of silver rounds if you don’t move to another country; some cryptos will become handy too,

I also foresee lots of troubles in Thailand. That’s why I have been building my safe-house where food can be locally grown. The worst case scenario is world war in less than five years’ time, depending on the impact of global debts on nations’ economies.

I do hope none of these mishaps will transpire. But my readings and research have indicated otherwise.

Cheers.

Thank you very much! I am trying not to catch heat stroke! Hope the rain will come soon.

There's always Lazada ;-)

Special books are hard to locate, I could not find them in Asia Book! Very niche-market books.

That’s an amazing children’s bookshop!! It’s a heaven for kids! But my mind goes after deep and mysterious subjects!! Thanks for letting me know! I might have to ask for your help!

Great shots on your walk I think it’s the same everywhere so many book shops have closed which is sad reading on a device has replaced real books but I am equally guilty it’s been a while Spence I have been to a bookstore

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :)

Thanks for your support. I think good bookshops are hard to find nowadays as they tend to stock popular books and authors. It’s hard to find independent publishers and authors of high caliber nowadays. I do miss my old days of reading wonderful classic books which are no longer in print. There is no demand for good books!

Yes indeed demand has changed
