Market Friday: Thailand Creative and Design Center (TCDC ), ศูนย์สร้างสรรค์งานออกแบบ
This is my entry for #marketfriday hosted by the lovely compassionate lady who likes flowers @dswigle. The previous post on #wednesdaywalk has led to my discovery of TCDC or Thailand Creative and Design Center at the back of the Grand Post Office building. So, I think I should show people this specialised center in Bangkok.

Entrance through the front lobby.
The front entrance is located on the left side of the Post Office building. There is currently an exhibition of a new design of ‘Pan Poom’ or jasmine garland to celebrate the coronation of our new King Rama 10th this year. Those flowers have already become dried and no longer have any fragrant. There is a shop in the lobby selling artistically design clothes, bags and fashion items including furniture and souvenirs.
TCDC was opened in 2005 on the sixth floor of the Emporium shopping complex. The original idea was that economic growth and prosperity depended on innovations and creativity so that new inventions, products and intellectual properties could help in creating wealth and progressive society. So, this center has accumulated lots of new books and resources on design, new theories on material design, arts and architecture. The library has become the best resource center for designers and architects and becomes a hub of creative and artistic students in Bangkok. Visitors can have a quick look around the library and current exhibitions.
I have stumbled on the other entrance at the far side of the building. Each floor is accessible via dimly lit escalators.
ศูนย์สร้างสรรค์งานออกแบบ เปิดทำการในปี 2005/ 2548 ที่ดิเอมโพเรียมชั้นหก ที่นี่มีหนังสือและแหล่งข้อมูลจากต่างประเทศ ในด้านการออกแบบ ศิลปะ การผลิตและวัสดุ และด้านสถาปัตยกรรม ตลอดจนหนังสือเกี่ยวกับแนวความคิดใหม่ๆ เพื่อมาช่วยสร้างเสริมให้คนไทย มีการพัฒนาความคิดด้านการออกแบบ และมีความคิดสร้างสรรค์ ในการคิดค้นนวัตกรรมใหม่ ที่จะส่งผลให้เกิด การพัฒนาด้านการออกแบบ การผลิตและการคิดทำสิ่งใหม่ๆ ต่อมาศูนย์นี้ได้ย้ายมาที่ตึกโปรษณีย์กลางในปีนี้ ใครที่สนใจก็สามารถแวะไปเยี่ยมชมสถานที่ได้
แต่ละชั้นเขื่อมต่อโดยบันไดเลื่อนที่อยู่ในไฟสลัวๆ บรรยากาศเงียบและเย็น เหมาะสำหรับการมาอ่านหนังสือ และการแอบนอน ถ้าใครสนใจหนังสือแฟชั่นและการออกแบบละก้อ ไม่ผิดหวังเพราะมีหนังสือที่หาดูที่อื่นไม่ได้ นอกจากนี้ยังมีวีดีโอด้านศิลปะและการออกแบบด้วย หนังสือมีภาพสวยๆให้ดูมากมาย การออกแบบห้องสมุดก็เป็นแนวขาวดำ มีทางเดินลึกลับหลายแห่ง เขาทาสีดำหมด แต่เราก็เดินหาช่องลับไปจนออกมาเจอดาดฟ้า จึงได้ถ่ายรูปบนที่สูง ถ้ามองไปฝั่งแม่นํ้าก็จะเห็น ไอคอนสยามอยู่ฝั่งตรงข้ามพอดี
The librarian did not allow me to take pictures with people or readers inside the library. So I had to take photos of the ceiling and the view from the top of the road. Looking across the river, IconSiam could be spotted on the opposite side of the river.

That's a great idea. It does encourage people more to come up with ideas and also a way to discover talents. I can almost imagine the view of the city at night with all the lights.

Hah darn librarians on power trips, the lights look interesting though. They really know their modern furniture in that space.

I guess those readers would not want to have their photos taken. Sometimes well known designers came to use the library. This is quite a hip place for artists, architects and fashion designers!

Very interesting i haven't been to the old Emporium shopping complex for awhile now i must put that back on my list i didn't know you could see the Icon-Siam from that building it looks pretty cool :)
Oh! You could look at ICON SIAM from the Post Office Building, go up to the rooftop garden!

I love the Modern Feel to the building! You really did a nice job photographing it and giving me a tour of what it is and what everything is for. The designers most likely toil inside that place, one of the biggest reasons for the no pictures.
What an incredible opportunity for designers and such. This was a real treat to see this! Thank you so much and I apologize for being so late in answering you, although I read it and resteemed it last Friday. Thank you for supporting the challenge with the wonderous country of Thailand!
