Beautiful Sunday: visiting Hindu shrines on a rainy day,

in #busy5 years ago

This is my entry for #beautifulsunday created by @ace108. Today it rained heavily in the afternoon so I had to change my plan from going to China town to visiting Hindu shrines at Amarin Plaza instead.

This shrine is on the left side of Amarin Plaza, this Hindu god is Tao Amarin-tarathirach or Indra who was supposed to be the first among Hindu Gods. Indra has the duty to keep the earth from all harm and danger. Indra has lightenings as his weapon; people would come to ask Indra for protection from dangerous situations and for safe journeys.

This shrine was very quiet today as it has been drizzling and the sky has become very gray. I quite liked the peaceful atmosphere around this shrine. I could see many elephants offered to Indra as gifts for making beseechers’ wishes come true. It is Thai practice to ask the God for help in making their wishes come true; the beseechers would promise to bring a number of elephants as a compensation. The more elephants, the more fulfilled wishes by the God Indra’s intervention on people’s behalf.

Then I walked along the road about a hundred meter to find the Brahman shrine at the corner of the road. I was very surprised to see so many Chinese tourists paying their respect to Brahman. Some of my Singaporean friends called this Four-face Buddha!

Brahman has become very famous and well-known among people from Hong Kong and Singapore as I heard so many stories of people’s wishes being fulfilled after paying respect to Brahman in Bangkok. My friend did get lucky several times with his lottery winning in Singapore that he had to travel back to make several donations! Many Chinese businessmen are devout devotees to Brahman.

What a contrast this is! These young dynamic Chinese people seeking spiritual assistance in the middle of Bangkok where they are surrounded by modern materialistic progress.

Huh? you mean four face buddha is part of the Hindu temple?

Actually, my friend didn’t understand much about Buddhism. So he called Brahman as four face Buddha. Brahman is the first among the Hindu Gods who has the duty to protect the Earth from all kinds of harms and danger.

Buddhism came after Hinduism and there is no rule to forbid Buddhists from going to churches or other temples. Thai people had already been influenced by Hinduism before the arrival of Buddhism into South East Asia. Local Thai villagers still practice local pagan rites in conjunction with Buddhist ceremonies! So, Hindu Gods can be easily accepted by people for the sake of bringing them good fortune and wealth and psychological comfort.

According to Buddhist scripture, these Hindu Gods have their duties in connection with assisting people on their spiritual paths, but most Thais just want to take the benefits of the materialistic aspects!!
To be enlightened is to go beyond the attachment to worldly desires and the desire to be with those Hindu Gods in their dimensions!

Cheers.

Amazing things! Beautiful :)

Thank you very much! It was a wet and gray afternoon! I wonder why these new generation of young Chinese people are so keen and serious about Brahman!

Yap! I was very surprised! Mostly Chinese people!

They are two amazing and beautiful Shrines in that area i have visited them many times :)

Oh! You should visit those in front of Isetan and Central World! Those two shrines are very popular among Thais!

Wow such beautiful photos and spectacular colours. Indra really gives me a very warm feeling I must say!
Fascinating how either young or old, Chinese or Thai or other, the desire for spiritual assistance never wavers. Bless you @kaminchan for this wonderful post. Resteemed xx

Aha! You are very sharp! Indra energy was very gentle and quiet on Sunday. Luckily I was the only one at the shrine. Indra was very giving and kind to me. On the other hand, Brahman’s energy was not as strong as in the past. Too many people were tapping on his energy!

Thank you for your support.

Weekends are for walking exercises!! I have no time to go to the gym! So, I go walking in cool shopping centers and sightseeing around town!
Don’t forget to drop by that place when you are back for your holiday!

Howdy sir kaminchan! Very interesting indeed. I want one of those elephant statues!

They are made from wood and resin! Too heavy to put in my bag!! You’ll have to come to Steemfest and see them for yourself!

Oh that's right, Steemfest if in Thailand this year isn't it? And you are going?

Not a full 100% as my timing is a bit odd, I may have to work during the weekends in November. But I will try my best to meet up with my Steem friends in Bangkok.
But you could come for your holiday whenever you are ready, Bangkok is waiting there!

lol! someday it would be a thrill!
