Esta película cuenta la historia de Meg una niña que no a tenido la mejor vida desde que su papá desapareció hace 4 años misteriosamente mientras realizaba un experimento. Pero igual que sus padres Meg y su hermano adoptivo Charles Wallace son unas mentes muy brillantes, Ellos descubrirán que la ciencia y la magia es más o menos lo mismo, después que tres entes misteriosos aparezcan en el jardín de su casa para Ayudarla a viajar en el espacio para poder encontrar a su papá. Meg junto a su hermano pequeño y su amigo Calvin decidirán ir atraves del tiempo y el espacio en busca su padre
