turbochargers & supercharger

in #busy7 years ago (edited)

In my previous post I introduced Mazda's new motors. In that system, one of the important points was the supersharger. But I want to give you some information about the turbocharger in the beginning. They do the same thing in the other.

1 - Turbochargers

Now I will give you information on turbocharging technology. The turbocharger ensures that the air entering the combustion chamber is sent more intensively. The turbocharger system is basically composed of two parts, similar to the saliguarose as the outer appearance. Turbine and compressor are available. Turbines and compressors compress and expand with the general term. As a result of combustion in the combustion chamber, the exhaust gas has a high energy because it has high pressure and temperature. The turbine assembly in the turbocharger system, which is directly connected to the exhaust manifold, is driven by this high-energy exhaust gas. The exhaust gas entering the turbine hits the fins and slides the turbine out and leaves the exhaust pipe at the center. When the turbine is switched on, it begins to rotate at the same speed in the compressor connected to the same shaft. The spinning compressor takes air from the air filter through the air filter and blows it around by means of centrifugation, which takes about twice as much pressure.

The compressed air obtained by the help of the compressor increases the temperature due to friction and high pressure. Sending warm air directly to the combustion chamber causes knocking. To get around this, we get the high-pressure air cooled by a cooler in the form of a radiator called "intercooler" in turbocharged vehicles. The intercooler is also sent to this cooled air intake manifold to allow more air into the combustion chamber.

Advantages;

• Fuel consumption is decreasing.
• Quieter operation.
• Produces more power than engines with the same cylinder volume.
• High efficiency due to being driven by exhaust gas.
• Generates exhaust emissions at low level.
• It takes up less space.

Disadvantages;

• The gas response is slow.
• Its performance decreases at altitude.

2 - Supercharger

The supercharging system, like the turbocharger system, is used to send more air into the engine and gain more power. The only difference separating the supercharger from the turbocharger is that the turbo charger is driven by the action taken by a belt means of the supercharger crank when driven by exhaust gas.

Advantage;

• The gas reaction is fast.
• Works at lower speeds.
• It has a nice texture.

Disadvantage;

• It causes a loss of efficiency of around 15% due to the fact that the motion is taken by the motor.
• Maintenance / repair cost is high.
• They generally take up a lot of space and weight because they are large.
