Hola bella,grande,interesante, curiosa y pujante familia de steemit,que cada día se menciona mas por las amplias vialidades del Internet.
Así es, los nombres de los continentes, nuestras 6 superficies terrestres que alguna vez fueron una sola, donde nuestros antepasados caminaron juntos hasta el momento en el que se separaron, el mundo avanzo y con el las civilizaciones, y por su puesto los navegantes y conquistadores, es así como nuestras, ciudades,países y CONTINENTES tienen sus nombres, muchos son simplemente alguna modificación de letras o pronunciación de como ya lo conocían y nombraban sus habitantes, pero casi nadie dice eso en las revistas de ciencia, es así como muchas historias y acontecimientos interesantes quedan olvidados. Espero les guste y lo disfruten tanto como yo.

Australia: Recibió su nombre del navegante portugués Pedro Fernandez de Quiros, quien en 1905 arribos sus naves a las costas orientales, despues de atravesar todo el océano pacifico. La llamo TIERRA AUSTRALIS que significa tierra del sur.

Asia: era la donominación que los antiguos griegos daban una pradera ubicada en donde actualmente se encuentra Turquía, pronto esta denominación se empleo para referirse a todas las tierras que se ubicasen al este de las islas griegas. En un vocablo que deriva del asirio ASZU este nombre ASIA significa salida del sol.

África: A ciencia cierta no hay registro del significado exacto o la razón por la que se le nombro así, pero la investigaciones de historiadores les llevo a dos posibles hipótesis: Derivada de la palabra latina APRICA que significa soleado ó tiene origen en la palabra griega A´ PHIKÉ que significa "Sin frío".(Curioso que África como cuna de las primeras comunidades prehistóricas, no tenga un origen especifico su bello nombre.)
Europa: El nombre de este continente tampoco es muy especifico se significa ocaso de sal.

América: la bella joya que pasa de frió por la cálido y tropical para volver a enfriarse en su otra punta. Llamada así en honor al geografo explorador italiano Américo Vespucio, denominado oficialmente con este nombre en el año de 1507.

Antártida: aunque separados este nombre agrupa como un continente a dos regiones frías del planeta el Polo sur y el Polo norte, ártica y Antártida. Ártica significa osa, y Antártida fue nombra por el ártico, Aunque no son tierras muy pobladas son explotas con bases científica y militarmente por: Noruega, Francia, Australia, Nueva Zelanda, Gran Bretaña quienes des 1934 disputan por repartiese el territorio, actualmente se le suma a estos países Chile y Argentina.

Esta información claro mas corta la obtuve de un revista vieja llamadas síntesis de agosto del 1992, estas las vendían con los periódicos, son muy interesantes aunque muy cortas, pero esta bien porque me hicieron buscar mas información interesante acera de nuestros continentes, pero tengo que organizarla y pronto les compartiré.
