The royal palace is reminiscent of the Louvre Palace both in its size and its architecture: the Ionic upper body with pilasters and the cornice. It is one of the largest in Europe with its 135 meters side of its 35 meters high. It dates from the 18th century, its architects are called Sachetti, Rodriguez and Sarmento. It served as a residence for Charles III, but today he plays only a protocol role. His interior is remarkable. The most notable elements are the Throne Room, the King's Room, the Central Patio and the Prince's Gate, the Charles III Quarter, the Hall of Mirrors, the Hall of the Columns, and the Halberdiers Hall. He is also rich in paintings such as those of Goya, Velasquez, El Greco, Rubens, Meng, Caravaggio. It also contains royal collections such as armory, Stradivarius, carpets and porcelain. Finally, it is surrounded by pleasant gardens that allow moments of relaxation.
