RE: Its a shame Yang sucks and UBI is impossible.
I question the need for a UBI or socialist schemes in the first place, but I have no problem with voluntary systems that seek solutions even if I don't see a real problem in the first place. It's the folks who want to mandate their ideas that give me the heebie-jeebies.
This is exactly why I think cryptocurrency is the better way to handle UBI. Its an opt in style system. The problem with this is that it means we would need to stop propping up the USD with QE right now wich is simply not going to happen.
As technology gets better we can automate most leftist ideology in superior more efficient frameworks. Then we can point and laugh and communists who are basically the Neo Amish LMAO
in other words:
I can always count on you for a strawman argument. Disagreement with a proposed solution is not disregard for the problem.
It works in Germany, why can't it here?
Does it really work in Germany? What are their budget numbers? What dissent is there? What is your basis for comparison? Why do you imagine that a monopoly is a good thing when administered by the political class? How does hiding costs behind bureaucracy and turning consumer need into an electoral issue actually address the root problem? And if your idea is so good, why must it be compulsory?
Note that I am not defending the status quo here in the US, and I think I already linked in previous conversations examples of how freeing the market has already cut costs and improved transparency. And that's still in the midst of an industry dominated by intellectual property restrictions, corporate protectionism, and insurance cartels.
Exactly.
dumb
I think it works because it does work. Ask literally any German citizen about it.
Any government program has to work at least somewhat, but what is your basis for comparison? Appeals to popularity do not demonstrate anything.
I have experienced Workman's Comp. I know people who have experienced the VA. Yes, they sorta-kinda work, but they suck. When choice is forbidden and a monopoly is imposed, waste and abuse are the consequences. Government is not a magical exception. And whenever their plunder runs short, the most vulnerable are made to play the waiting game until they submit to the price hikes the government mandates.
Have you not seen what happens whenever there's a federal budget crisis and congressional shutdown theater? My health is too important to leave in the hands of Obama, Trump, or whoever comes next.
So what about Canada? Do they have 40,000 deaths per year?
Implying Trump runs the VA or would run a medicare system is stupid and lazy. You are also stupid and lazy.
Nice of you to gloss over the word "congressional" above in your haste to spew insults. You also sidestep how Medicare has massive unfunded liabilities already. It's a terrible model. Why are you so invested in it as a solution?
In other words
We are fucked on this front.
France works, why don't we?
We pay for advancement. France gets to ride our coat tails.
Also France is on the brink of civil war. I guess most of the EU kinda is but .. Your example was better maybe 5 years ago.
So protests automatically mean they have no hospitals anymore? Also you realize the yellow vest movement is socialist, right? Advocating for more socialism, right?
I agree.
