Interesting, i always thought that the Japanese are stagnating economically due to too much money going to care for their elderly, so this was quite an eye opener.

My guess for the higher productivity in Japan would be because of investments in production technology such as automatization and IoT based workplaces that improve throughput, basically the same as Germany.
