Rabbit and Tortoise- extended version

in #busy6 years ago

Long time ago a tortoise and a rabbit had a argument about who was quicker. They chose to settle the discussion with a race. The tortoise and rabbit both conceded race route and began the race. The rabbit shot ahead and ran energetically for quite a while. At that point seeing that he was a long ways in front of the tortoise, he thought he'd sit under a tree for quite a while and rest before proceeding the race. He sat under the tree and soon fell sleep. The tortoise trudging on surpassed him and soon completed the race, emerged as the undisputed champ. The rabbit woke up and understood that he'd lost the race.

The lesson of the story is that slow but steady will win in the end. This is the form of the story that we've all grown up with.

But recently somebody told me more interesting version of this tortoise and rabbit story. It proceeds.

The rabbit was frustrated at losing the race and he did some spirit seeking. He understood that he'd lost the race simply because he had been overconfident, and careless. In the event if he had not underestimated things, it is extremely unlikely the tortoise could have beaten him. So he tested the tortoise to another race. The tortoise agreed.

This time, the rabbit went hard and fast and kept running without preventing all the way. He won by a few miles.

The lesson of the story, In life, fast and consistent will most likely defeat the slow and steady. If you don't act with a urgency and sense, you will get left behind.

The story doesn't end here. The tortoise did some realization this time, and understood that it is highly unlikely he can beat the rabbit in a race the way it was at present arranged. He thought for some time, and challenged the rabbit to another race, however on a somewhat different route. The rabbit agreed. The tortoise and rabbit started the race. keeping to his commitment to be fast and consistent the rabbit took off and kept running at top speed until the point when he went to a wide river stream. The end goal was two or three kilometers on the opposite side of the waterway.

The rabbit sat there thinking what to do. Meanwhile the tortoise came along, got into the waterway, swam to the contrary bank, kept walking and completed the race.

The lesson of the story, Don't over-investigate and over-think. Simply make a consistent move into the right direction.

The story still hasn't finished.

The tortoise and rabbit, at this point, had turned out to be great friends and they did some thinking together. Both understood that the last race could have been run much better. So the tortoise and rabbit chose to do the last race once more, yet to keep running as a group this time.

They started the race, and this time the rabbit conveyed the tortoise till the riverbank. There, the tortoise took over the control and swam crosswise over with the rabbit on his back. On the contrary bank, the rabbit again conveyed the tortoise and they achieved the goal together. Both the tortoise and rabbit felt a more prominent feeling of fulfillment than they'd felt before.

The lesson of the story, Cooperation works. It's great to be independently clever and winner ; however unless you're ready to work with a group and harness each other's center qualities, you'll generally perform less because there will be circumstances at which you'll do poor and another person does well.

Note that neither the tortoise and rabbit surrendered after failures. The rabbit chose to work harder and invest more exertion after his disappointment. The tortoise changed his technique since he was at that point filling in as hard as possible. Throughout everyday life, when slapped with disappointment, at times it is suitable to work harder and invest more effort. And sometimes it is good to change technique and do it differently. Also, few times it is good to do both. Possibly in your present circumstance if you are working hard but never winning the race. maybe its time to think back and do it differently.

However, the best lesson I've learned here is that the power of a team is essential. The individuals from the group are either tortoises or bunnies, however the thing is, WE WORK TOGETHER.

So in the event that you feel you're a tortoise or rabbit and can't figure out how to win the race of your life, maybe it's the time for a "rematch." ;)
