The United States Ministry of Finance has banned three military officers and two army brigades for racial violence against Myanmar's Rakhine state. Because of the sanctions announced on Friday, the property in the United States will be seized by the concerned people. They can not enter the United States. Financial transactions involving individuals and organizations under American sanctions are also banned. In addition to the army officers and the brigade, the restriction has come into force against a police officer in Myanmar. The ban is one of the toughest steps the United States has taken against the person or organization accused of persecution of Rohingyas so far. News Reuters wrote that while the current sanctions list has a rank of general rank, human rights activists have expressed surprise over the ban against Myanmar's army chief.

After the attack on some security guards of Rakhine on August 25, 2017, the Myanmar army strengthened the pre-planned and structured violence.
