The book of Ephesians is a epistle written to the church at Ephesus and then circulated to the neighbouring local churches.

Apostle Paul wrote this letter during his imprisonment in Rome, approximately AD60. He wrote the letter purposely to strengthen the believers in their faith by explaining the nature and purpose of the church as the body of Christ.

Unlike Galatians and some other epistles, Ephesians was not written to confront any heresy or impending issues. It was instead, aimed at strengthening and encouraging the churches in the vicinity.

Paul was in Ephesus for over three years with the Ephesian church which explains his closeness to the church. When he was about leaving, he met with the Church elders at Miletus where he bade them farewell; not sure of meeting them again.

Paul started by expounding on our spiritual possessions in Christ, then our spiritual position in Christ as pertaining to Christian doctrine. He then went on to exhort them on their responsibility in Christ by emphasizing the need to walk in unity, harmony, purity and in victory.

As we go through this epistle, it is my prayer that the Lord will open our eyes to see the deep things He has in store for us and also help us rise to our responsibility as the members of the body of Christ.

Hope this will enlighten you and propel you to read through the epistle to Ephesians
