Funny Stories from Asia | Short Film Curation #2
My last short film curation was filled with Indonesian short movie. One of them was selected as the best movie on some awards last week. I’m happy to hear that. Good short film after all.
For today picks, I will expand my horizon to Asia. Because I remember there are so many great comedy from Asia. Well, my top funniest film would go to any Stephen Chow’s movie.

This one is a super fun one. A very weird comedy, very Asia, a story about a middle-aged man who wants to borrow a skateboard to visit his father. The dialogues were unimportant at all, the plot is absurd, the resolution is unsatisfying, but in a good way.

This one is a romantic comedy, a love story of a security guard for a storekeeper. A funny love story in a bizarre armed robbery.

This one is my personal favorite. A cute story where a boy meets Papa Jesus for the first time in his life, in his kitchen! Not a spiritual film by the way :)
Directed by Lam Sheung Ting (Hong Kong)I am Terry Zou
Another personal favorite. Have I told you about how I love Hong Kong cinema, especially comedy? This short film has everything that I love about it: the chaotic camera movements, the complex plot, unpredicted ending, the costumes, the casts, all perfect. For your information, Terry Zou is a real singer in Hong Kong. In this short film, he played the roles as Terry Zou himself, who apparently not popular enough. This unpopularity put him in a very dangerous situation. His life is at high stakes!
