To blow out someone elses candle, doesn't make your own candle shine brighter. (Day 2 of 30 of the Happiness Challenge).

Why do people want to drag others down to where they are in the deep dark depths of life? People can sometimes be real bullies, and I am not only talking about kids here. 

Last week we had to visit my father in law in hospital and it is quite far to drive, so we slept over at my brother's house. His two beautiful girls were playing on the grass when we arrived. We all sat down for a drink to relax a bit and later on the girls were sent to take a bath before going to bed. 

The eldest of the two, now eight, were telling me about a new girl that arrived in their school, and she was concerned because the other kids were being nasty to the new girl because she was overweight. It upset her so much that she started crying, and she couldn't understand that there are just nasty people that won't allow to let the sun shine over someone else. 

She was so upset and it broke my heart to see her like that. It also made me sad that at such a young age, she already had to experience such bad human behavior. 

It takes the same amount of energy to be horrible to someone than it does to be nice. The best and only way to make yourself feel better about something is to use your words and actions to be kind and to lift someone up. 

If we all start fighting the negative then we can change the world. Instead of saying something nasty to someone, start by being kind. Put a smile on someone's face rather than making them unhappy. 

Remember calling someone stupid doesn't make you smarter....and to call someone else fat, doesn't make you thinner.
