RE: Someone else is happy with less than what you have! (Day 9 of 30 of the Happiness Challenge).

Not so many, but in South Africa we have car guards in every parking area that drives me nuts. It is a self created job, and although you have insurance for your car in case of theft, these guys expect you to pay them something for looking after your car while you go into the shop. Then if you don't give them money, they mark your car and scratches your car the next time you're around. Not a good experience.

In the big cities, they have street kids, in Auckland, our biggest city, my brother in law took me shopping, we parked, shopped, came back, looked through the window, there were the keys in the ignition. After a good " golly gosh" or two, he went into get a clothes hanger to try and use that to get in.
While he was away 4 - 5 street kids poked the shit at me for being locked out. 1 of them offered to open the door for $ 10 we talked and dropped the price to $5 as long as I didn't look.
I turned away, and before I could turn back there was the sound of the door unlocking and opening, without a scratch or a mark.
They wouldn't show me how they did it, but they were fast.

There is a trick with half a tennis ball that can open any kind of central locking. If they could open a car in seconds, what keeps them from breaking into cars, taking what they want and locking them again? These kids are more clever than we think sometimes...

they have so many cars to work on in the carpark, and they are nimble enough to get away from any casual chase.
