Decentralised chat - Riot (Matrix)

We live in the world of a decentralized blogging platform. Nevertheless, we use centralized chat rooms like Steem.Chat or Discord. Today I decided to describe the "Riot" chat to you on the decentralized Matrix protocol.

Steem Chat

I think we all remember Steem Chat on the Rocket Chat engine. Slow and non-functional engine. You could call it the 1st generation of chatrooms (like IRC). You can chat with others, but it is the administrator who sets the rules, such as:

1. Can you have your own channel?
2. What roles can you have on this channel?
3. They are the rulers of the server.

Steem Chat did not pass the exam because of its flaws and many organizations like Utopian, OCD or IntinteDAO resigned from it.

Discord

Discord is an evolution in the chat system. The whole idea of community in the system allows you to create your own "circles of interest". - discussion groups. In addition, a working mobile application made many people want to use it. And it's no wonder - it just works.

So you can have your own piece of chat that you are an administrator of.

Riot (Matrix)

Discord 2.0 - this is how you can define Riot using the Matrix protocol. The idea is simple - to recreate all the best features of Discord using a decentralized Federation network.

It can be compared to a mail system. So you can send mail not only to your friends from the server, but also to other servers.

Let's say you're on chat junta.pl. I am on matrix.org. Although these are separate servers - we can talk to each other, you can be on my channel and I on yours.

Of course, the system itself has a community project (which can often be created on its own). So you can make your own channels and manage them.
