Timnas Kroasia melangkah ke partai puncak piala dunia 2018 Rusia setelah dalam pertandingan semifinal Kamis dini hari WIB mengalahkan timnas Inggris 2-1 di Luzhniki Stadium. Timnas Inggris memimpin 1-0 diawal babak pertama lewat gol cepat Kieran Trippier di menit ke-5, Kroasia menyamakan kedudukan pada menit ke-68 melalui gol Ivan Perisic dan gol kemenangan Kroasia dicetak Mario Mandzukic pada menit ke-109 perpanjangan waktu. Di babak final Kroasia akan menantang Perancis yang sukses mengalahkan Belgia 1-0.
