Do what is right

There’s no such thing as ruining your life. Life’s a pretty resilient thing, it turns out. When you're lost in those woods, it sometimes takes you a while to realize that you are lost. There is no good and evil, there is only power and those too weak to seek it. For the longest time, you can convince yourself that you've just wandered off the path, that you'll find your way back to the trailhead any moment now. Do what is right, not what is easy nor what is popular. Then night falls again and again, and you still have no idea where you are, and it's time to admit that you have bewildered yourself so far off the path that you don't even know from which direction the sun rises anymore. And I learned what is obvious to a child. That life is simply a collection of little lives, each lived one day at a time.

I always thought every day was a gift, but now I am looking for where to send the note.
