NOT SO POPULAR HISTORICAL SPOTS OF DELHI:- SATPULA AND KHIRKI VILLAGE
The khirki village got his name from the masjid in the center which got lots of window ( khirki means windows) and thus the masjid is called khirki masjid which in turns gIves the to the entire area as well. The place is sits in middle of the two generations/eras of our society has experienced. One side of the road you see the structure of modern era THE SELECT CITY MALL which is the biggest mall of south delhi and on the other is this ghetto colony of khirki village. The area is full of historical monuments, street art wonders and a prefect blend different communities at on site. This turn out to be very cool for me.
HISTORICAL KHIRKI MASJID STILL STANDING TALL
So as we started walking through SATUPULA LAKE DISTRICT which competely deserted and waiting for next monsoon to become alive again. ButUntill then, it become favorite spot for local chidren to play cricket. This lake was made in 14th century by bluiding a dam on a canal connecting river yumuna for irrigation purposes. The meaning of 'SATPULA' is 'bridge with 7 arches'.
Dry Lake acts a prefect spot local kids to play criket and ruins of historical monument providing spectacular value to match
Bridge with 7 arches THE SATPULA BRIDGE
Chamber of the dam. Monument requires serious attention and restoration which our government not considering
Now move forward to our next KHIRKI MASJID which is in the centre of infinite multi stories bluiding and opposite to THE SELECT CITY MALL.
The monument happened to be protected by ASI (Archeological survey of Indian). That why it had iron fencing arount its boundaries and guarded by three security person who are in shifts for the protection of monuments.
Even though its Asi protected monument but its conditions is still similar to most of the ignored historical monuments of delhi. Due to this ignorance the monument they become a best for bats to colonies.
The architecture of the monument was the fusion of hindi and islamic traditional arhitecture. The whole structure was impressive symmetric and which is in quadrilateral shape built as a fortress.
Domes and domes, one after another, separated by a few courtyards. It is said to be the only mosque in North India, which is mostly covered..
Its looks like some part of it is recently fallen off, this may be due to the bats on walls eat limestones of the walls which in weaken the walls of monuments. But still this open chamber in khriki Masjid looks beautiful
Tried to take the shot of this pigeon flying over the open chamber of masjid
some more slots of khirki masjid
The underground parts of the monument is as big as the upper part. The guard of told me that there was a tunnel which connects Masjid to Qutub Miner and Red Fort. The government, though close the way that leading to underground portion and the tunnel.I’m not sure about the authenticity of the facts quoted here, but surely the place requires some attention otherwise in a timespan of a few years, there would only be ruins of the place.
- The room were security guard sleep. He told the us that the government gave security contract to a private agency for security. Because if government employ directy them, then it has give them ₹50k. Instead a security agency pay only ₹10k. The choice was obvious.*
As my exploring ended i looked around places for lunch in khirki village doing so i found some art in khirki village
A building dismantled for reconstruction. The graffiti on the wall is bound to happen in such a case.
Streets of Khirki would always amaze you. The two shots are from a local chai shop ‘before’ and ‘during’ an India — Australia t20 match. And again, who are those girls?
I Am think to put all my travel stories and experiences as a blog regularly but due to lack to time, poor writing skil, lack of time and less support from my follwers i get demoralized and don't post the.
