Spring officially arrived on Saturday in Tokyo, after the Japanese meteorological agency decreed that the cherry trees were in bloom.

The experts of the agency, who study the cherry trees of the temple of Yasukuni, verified that the first flowers had hatched, nine days before the usual date.

Gentle temperatures in late February and early March accelerated the blossoming of flower buds, an official with the meteorological agency told reporters at the Yasukuni temple in downtown Tokyo.
