THROWBACK: HIKE ON MOUNT KIGALI + VISUAL ARTISTRY + RETURN OF THE LIONS(Youtube Link)

in #busy6 years ago (edited)

Well that was a mouthful. lol Howdy steemians, how is everything going? Today I wanted to share a youtube video made by a friend of mine, Zwena Bachoo, for her show called Out and about Rwanda. This was last year, she had invited us to share the experience with her and her team and of course we were in!

Our segments starts off at 1:05, the host starts by introducing herself, presenting the course of the show and after that, we get our very own intro. Yay! At 02:37 the segment officially starts while we're walking to Mera Neza, the land of King Kigeli IV Rwabugiri (first King to come in contact with Europeans and believed by many to be the last true King of Rwanda) The tour guide starts by briefly talking about the significance of the place and why it is still cherished. Later on, he even goes on to points us to the mountain on which the army used to live during that era, and more.

It was after that that we thanked him for his time and knowledge and parted ways. We had to hurry to catch the picturesque views of the other side of Mount Kigali as the sunset was getting closer and closer. And once there...great memories were made!

At 8:39 starts the 2nd segment with Willy Karekezi, one of the best visual artists in Rwanda, who starts off bu talking about his inspirations and his process. He then takes advantage of the opportunity to show off his skills and to suggest that art should be taught starting from the lower levels of education. That way more children are likely to find and embrace their talents at an early age.

And last but not least the last segment. In this one, the host along with her colleague Ethan got to attend, enjoy and get the inside scoop while at the premiere of ''The Return of The Lions.'' During the aftermath of the genocide in 1994, lions had disappeared from our country. ''The return of the lions'' is a movie that was released last year, documenting lions that were brought from South Africa to Rwanda, and placed in the Akagera National Park in order to preserve the ecosystem.

End!

That's it for that video but you guys can check out their latest one and if you ever feel like visiting the country you can check their channel to know what to do, where to go and when. All the good stuff they share!
