A Week Of Playing With Gouache
I just completed a full week of only painting with gouache and time just seemed to pass by so fast! If I remember correctly, this is the first time that I have stuck around a medium so consistently and am only excited to see where it takes me. Some colors have already reached their limit partly and about 2 are yet to be used, I think?
These are all of the ones that I have practiced so far, with the still life pictures being the latest. I am slightly hesitant to try oil paints and gouache has been such an inspiring jump for me after watercolors. Because going to a medium as strong as oil paints from a medium as loose as watercolors always feels a little daunting to me. So this might be like laying a foundation for me and so far I have found my love growing only stronger for them.
I would love to hear if you guys have any words of wisdom or something that I should be practicing at this stage with gouache.
Day 1 and Day 2: Understanding the pigment and water-color ratios
Day 3: Reduced use of water (Definitely not the same as watercolors!)
Day 4 and Day 5: Hues, Shadows, Highlights & Brush Strokes
Day 6 & 7: Focused more on blending techniques and intensity of colors
