They're probably replaying messages following some kind of update. Probably. I've logged and am using Steemit for now until things clear up. To be honest, it's been acting weird for a couple of days before today logging me out every half hour or so.
Yeah I can live without it for a few days but the feature I depends most on the Busy was that notification system. That's probably the biggest reason for me to stick with Busy this long, can't believe the most famous Steemit is not supporting basic function for a social product like Steem.
