How to rock on Steemit, from a newbie perspective
Making yourself a name and a few bucks on the Steem platform it's not an easy job, especially if you are pretty new like myself, but that doesn't have to stop you from doing that or at least try. If you believe in the value of such blogging platform and its future than you might have some strong reasons for sticking around. If you don't then search some other reasons to convince yourself it's worth it or another platform.
At first expect and embrace failure. Nobody was born wise or an expert so if you haven't been dealing with blogging before jumping in the Steem ocean, some of your early posts...or maybe a lot of them will be a failure. Not only that they will be "poor" written and far from being read by a whale, but won't even bring you a cent. Embrace that. It's a step of a long journey.
Seeing that the shit your talking about is not too read probably is time to change lanes. All of us have some talents, passions, fields of activity or at least a piece of knowledge that we can talk about. After all it's a blogging platform, not a college degree to pass. Writing or making DTube videos about what goes through your mind might be more attractive to some users than some recipes for success that you read on a book and never applied. Or worse copy pasted from somewhere...
While doing that and having a bit of attention on your name expect people commenting on your posts. Not all of them will agree with you and probably will come with irrefutable arguments that you have to accept and learn from them. But if you disagree with that guy, even if he's a whale, say no instead of "thank you sir". Some of the people around here appreciate a strong point of view and a disagree more than assertiveness.
If you found yourself posting every day and not having any success maybe you should improve yourself or change something about your work on blogging on Steemit. There are plenty of users to learn from so feel free to read their posts. Even if they're too long. But if you think you already do a good job then have patience. Or use bid bods to grow your rank... You can't say that you ran out of options.
While being patient is an attitude of gold, being hardworking is platinum. Hard working doesn't mean in my opinion to write 2,000 words blog posts that don't say anything. It's about writing fair enough while expressing clear your point of view and the information you're trying to share. It's also about interacting with other people on other posts and of course yours. Give replies, it's free. Your comments are your advertising banners, as I learned from a successful user of the platform.
Stay away from disputes and other type of wars. They're not yours and the ones leading these wars don't give a damn about you even if you engage with all of your heart and Steem Power to stop...whatever. If they want to spend their time around here doing this, then fine. You know your goals, purposes and incentives to be part of this community and that's all that matters. Do your own thing and nobody will own you.
Walk away from opinions like that you should do this and that and the fastest way to lots of Steem laurels will be to...etc etc etc. Make your own research, trust your gut, do your work and cast it. That's what I learned from fishing. If the spot is good, you come prepared, hook the best bait you have and cast far enough there's no way on going home empty handed.
Now you could probably ask me how do I know all of this if I am still rocking a rank 50 that anyone can achieve in one day with the proper amount of Steem and having around 25 SP to vote? Let's say it's a bit of intuition combined with some of my attitudes and almost three months of hanging spent around here. After all it's an opinionated post so I wrote whatever crossed my mind and thought it was useful for anyone reading it. If it's read :-). You don't have to consider it as the users guide of blogging on them Steem platform. Make your own.
Fell free to share your point of view in the comments section or give that "nice post, I agree with you that's what I am going to do" type of opinion. Neither bothers me. It's a free world and a free blockchain.
