How-to Get Paid for a Business Review on Steemit

in #businessreviews8 years ago (edited)

For a while I have been toying with the idea of doing business reviews. There are a lot of folks doing unboxing reviews, product reviews etc and these seem to be very popular with folks who have been thinking of buying a particular product and look for reviews on before moving forward on their purchase.

That got me thinking about Business Reviews. Kind of like doing a review on a business.

There are many review sites like Yelp, Angie's List and even Google + and usually these reviews are written and graded out of 5 Stars

5 Star review rating

But the kind of review I was thinking about doing was a video review.

I tried to imagine what it is like for someone looking for a reputable business. What steps would they go through to try and determine which business was the one that should use.

Then I thought about the time it would take and that they probably don't have the time or the desire to go to different websites looking at the different reviews and be subjected to different promotions on those sites.

My original idea was to create a Youtube Channel and do video recordings. I thought I could use screenflow, I have a Mac, and record my screen while using various software to collect dada on a business and possibly visit other 3rd party websites, look in Google etc.

Then upload the video, optimzed for that business, to a Youtube Channel under the brand "Reviewed You"

I even started on getting ideas for logos which you can see here.

The thing I was asked by other marketers was how would I generate income from this and that was a really good question. Basically I had not fully thought out how I was going to monetise this strategy and justify my investment of time for doing this.

Now that Steemit is here its possible that the readers and non readers of Steemit can now find the Steemit link in the Google Serps for that business and by clicking on just one link they can get an overall review of that business.

It would be a review about that business and not the business talking about themselves. I would imagine this would be greatly help potential customers decide if this was the type of business that they should be rewarding with their hard earned dollars.

Comments could be left by customers and owners of businesses can reply to any comments left good or bad.

From this you could get a really good idea about that business just by visiting one website and not several sites.

Not only that but Steemit also rewards its authors with Steem and even rewards people for commenting, voting etc unlike Facebook which depends solely on he content we provide and it monetizes that content and the shareholders get richer.

So I am starting this idea here on Steemit. You saw it here first.

Currently the categories don't exist so I am about to create them with tags and hash tags.

#reviewedyou #businessreviews #reviews

Let me know what you think of this idea?

If you have a video review you want to do of a business then tag the post with "reviewedyou" and "businessreviews" that way in the future anybody looking for a review on a particular business can find it reasonably fast.

The other thing is Google seems to love Steemit so its indexing the pages pretty fast and so a page about a business should get indexed pretty quick.

Best,

Tony

So, is this going to be a full business or hobby? I'm building a news site and planning to interview several entrepreneurs and marketeers about how to market your website, etc to people. I think your business plan is pretty good!

@ angusleung10050 it will be something I will be developing for sure. I already have the Video Marketing Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/videoranking/ and provide various Gigs but I want to also develop this idea to help assist Video and Local Marketing :)

Awesome! Can't wait to check it out when it becomes the next UnboxTherapy!

Cool idea! I think your best bet to monetize is to pair this with another product/service. So, you give the company a solid consumer review for free. Then you follow that up by offering a full internal review for their use. You interview employees, look over processes, recommend changes, very valuable Intel.

Or you keep it online. You lead with, "consumer trust is vital to the success of any business, but it only works if potential customers can find you online". Then you pair the review service with and SEO or lead generation service.

If you don't do those things yourself, simply partner with someone who does and work out a referral kickback per client.

The third option, if you're playing the long game, is to turn business reviews into a brand. Once you have an established brand that people trust, you can leverage that brand with ads and upsells, premium features, etc.

@caleballen you have given some great advice there man. I like all those options and you have touched on all the points that I have thought of. I am just lacking the man power.

Hey great idea Tony. How will you keep it legit and police the trolls?

Not sure exactly.

Sounds like exactly what we need for our website

I have a revolutionary (unfortunately it realty is) approach that helps kids print like adults in just a few weeks. Needless to say, it also works well for adults who want to "cure' their childish handwriting. We have had thousands of sales and hardly any reviews in over 5 years of selling it on the web. This is despite the fact we have a 30 Day Money Back Guarantee -- no one has ever asked for their money back!

So Tony--what do you think? Hit us up [email protected]
Thanks,

Great idea Darryl. I have always had problems with my own handwriting. Have even forgot how to do running writing. I will get in touch about a review for you. Best, Tony

This sounds good and it kinda crossed my mind that having a 5 star reveiw for businesses on Steemit would be a great idea. I'm glad you're working on it.

This is what I currently do now for local businesses. Help them with their online reputation. The videos get syndicated on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Daily Motion and Tumblr. Take a look at the video

If you think that I can help please let me know.

i have tested this method and it work

Sounds interesting enough to make me a new follower : )
So who's going to be on-site at all these business?
Not sure about the monetization but it'll be interesting to see how it grows and in what direction
Best of luck

Andy

Hey Andy thanks for the comment. I am not sure how this is going to work yet but I think it will gradually evolve. Why post a review on Yelp or Google + when you can post one here on Steemit and get paid for your review :)

Now this is very interesting. if someone can get paid for their reviews likely hood to get a few will of course increase. I know I would reward every single reviewer with an upvote. but that will also take it into grey hat territory. However, its hard to claim its not legal if compensation is paid based on quality of the review rather than the review per say (by the company). you got me thinking here.. thanks (Henrik from your group)

This is a great idea that can really take off. The potential for offering this as a service to business is great. Do they preselect from one of the categories?
Like, if they request video review you create a video review of the offer, etc. and post it in Steemit businessreviews... is that it? Perhaps, including an added value of adding the review to youtube or google or both should increase search and benefits.

I am still working out the finer points. But I have the idea to use Vimeo as that way I can change out the video. So for example each month the business might have a new review video and so I just swap out the last one and add the new one. Or I could embed a playlist from Youtube and add or delete any videos :)

You always have such great ideas Tony. Looking forward to seeing how this plays out. I have several brick and mortar clients who might be interested in something like this.

Thank you @nornene. I will keep you in the loop :)

Sounds like a great idea and something businesses would really go for.

Yes I think so. I am working on how to get it rolling.
