RE: Another Lawsuit To Try and Reduce Occupational Licensing Restrictions

in #business7 years ago

sometimes licensing is really a solution. We have so many "black" masters who have low quality skills or just don't have them but they still work and earn money. And sometimes it's really dangerous for clients

Sort:

shouldn't I have the freedom to choose who I allow to provide me such a service? Why should a 3rd party organization (GOV) be the one to decide who is fit for me? ...that doesn't sound like freedom.

The thing is they don't always tell they don't have education and a license, or they just bought it. Imagine a doctor who has bought his diploma. Danger for people. Hairdressers are not doctors but... Freedom should exist for sure, but there must be a way to test who have their working places. Don't you agree?

I think doctors are a terrible example ..in that they are actually a great example to show how the current system ISN'T working, it protects bad actors and greatly limits freedom for the benefit of few. Studies have shown that medical errors, mistakes made by doctors, are a leading cause of death... there are many doctors out there today who might have passed school decades ago and they haven't kept up with researching the most relevant information, they are no doubt giving out incredibly harmful advice to many people. So simply having the government implement some licensing requirement doesn't mean that bad people will be prevented from harming you.

This is an organization which violates your liberty every single day and doesn't even respect your most basic right to consent, but we are to believe they implement rules restricting our rights in the market for safety?......No.

I like to know that my doctor knows what they are doing, don't you? it's human nature... but we don't need gov/coercion involved in order to find a doctor in the market... we can choose for ourselves voluntarily and peacefully :)

That's why i don't trust doctors, they are just people, not gods, and they can be wrong. The example isn't the best I agree, a diploma of a doctor doesn't guarantee anything.
We must be free to choose which service to use, yes, and it's better if all people who provide any service, would be responsible for the their quality;)

there are people who have passed through and received their licenses from gov in a variety of industries and many have still harmed many clients, simply passing through those barriers to entry doesn't mean that you will never harm anyone.
