2nd Place in the CNBC's 6th annual list of top 50 distruptor private companies went to Uber. 2017 was a battering year for Uber which was number 19 in the list in 2017. It has taken every effort to over come the negative press and made some bold moves that earned #2 position in the list in 2018.

In April Uber bought JUMP the dockless bike company and UberEATS the company's food delivery business which it started in 2016 has expanded to more than 120 cities world wide and become bigger operation than its ride hailing business in Asian market.

Despite its negative press the company was able to secure $21 billion in venture capital including those from Goldman Sachs, Microsoft and Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund.
