Can you help with Business Forecasting?steemCreated with Sketch.

I’ve got a question and will try to provide as clear an explanation as possible:

I have a set of known targets equaling the total for my sales forecast number for Year 1, Year 2, and Year 3.

Given:
Y1 = $600,000;
Y2 = $1,200,000; and
Y3 = $1,200,000.

Is there a formula (in Excel or otherwise), calculation, forecasting model, or anything else, that would take the year end total and work backwards into dividing it out over the 12 month period?

The issue is that the assumption is that each month is not the same, so $600,000 ÷ 12 will not suffice.

Rather, the sales totals should increase over the 12 month period, resulting in the total at the end of the year.

These monthly sales numbers do not have to be linear increases at a set interval and would best be staggered slightly.

Lastly, a further caveat, is that in Year 1 the Month 1 total sales will be equal to $0.00.

Any and all suggestions would be appreciated and I would be forever grateful for your help.

As promised, this was something completely different.
