Velocity - the speed of something in a given direction

Speed + Direction. Two masterful attributes to getting things done in business.

1. Email inbox - open each email and either one of the "Four D's" applies: Do, Delete, Defer or Delegate (make decision and deal with - yet more 'd's'!)
2. Paper on desk - see point 1. Key point: touch it once and deal with it in one way of the four ways
3. Meetings - make them short (speed). Ideally stand up. Have an agenda (direction). Have action points (direction). Do them and follow up soon after (speed)
4. Business Plan - push forward (speed). Iterate in line with market feedback (direction). Maintain momentum.
5. Hot potato - tasks that are passed or delegated to you. Play the game of 'hot potato' - it is your job to deal with it (direction) to get rid as fast as possible (speed)
