Business English - Dealing with a Fellow Employee Who Whines
Sometimes you have to deal with employees who whine, or need to be pushed a bit more.
Here are some phrases when you want to keep fellow employees focused on the task at hand. These phrases are wrapped around the idea that a project needs to get done. It also lends itself to the complaints we often here and we have to refocus our energies on the project that needs to get done.
"I understand your feelings, and we really need to move forward with this project. So can we partner up on this?"
"I believe the boss knows what they are doing, and she must have a good reason for initiating this project."
"We need to decide how we’re going to make this project a success, regardless of how you feel about it."
"Moving forward, how do you think we can put this project together?"
"This is past due and what we need to get this project done. Do you have any ideas we can put together?”
When a fellow employee complains it can take you off track from what you need to do. These are not only to get away from complaining, but also for refocusing your energy elsewhere.
When Coworkers Complain Nonstop...
"At this point, I really want to hear what you like."
"I really see things in a different way. This is what I think: …"
"Actually, I think most of these things are pretty good. Let's look at it this way."
"Do you have any solutions to these problems that you’re raising?"
"In spite of all these problems, I think we’ve come really far."
There you have it folks. The easy stuff, and it is not to difficult to put into practice.
