How would you like to have a brand that inspires loyalty like Steve Jobs and Harley Davidson?

The secret is to create a marketing message so great that people have no choice than to fall in love with it.

When I heard about Steemit, I did not fully understand what it was about but I was already in love with the marketing message.

So how do you develop a cult like following for your brand?

We all know that people stand in queue in front of Apple stores, long before a new I-phone starts selling, people also wait in front of cinemas long before a new Star Wars movie premieres.

There are five different ways by which you can cult your brand:

  1. Be a purple cow: this simply means being different, distance your brand from establishment and norm. Carve out a niche for yourself.

  2. Get Evangelists : these are the people who have a level of influence in your market, they are the ones who will give your product the Midas touch.( Dr. Dre made the Beats headphone popular by getting celebrities to wear them in public)

  3. An Enemy: show people how your brand is different from a previous establishment, you have to define what you are (Steemit vs Facebook).

  4. An clear vision: this is a clear belief system that everyone is able to understand and uphold. You should be able to explain why your products should exist. It should not be a 50 -100 word mission statement that most companies adopt. It should be short and understandable, more like a mantra

5 . Learn to let go: you should strive not to be a control freak. You should learn to give others space or you risk losing everything you have built. Bitcoins would have been worthless is Sathoshi kept them all to himself.

Learning to observe this five steps will leave you with a brand worth patronising.

The basic methods indeed.

I actually think that the best way of building brands may be a combination of the methods you mentioned. None of them really work when you do not evangelise, since evangelising brings exposure. And point 5 is applicable to all the previous methods and maybe even other methods that exists or can be successful in brand building.
