in #business7 years ago

Most people fancy the idea of making money right from the comfort of their homes. The good news is that there are a ton of useful resources out there on how to make money working from home. From becoming a freelance writer to starting your own online business and everything in-between, home-based earning opportunities are simply endless.

But, working from home comes with its own fair share of challenges. In this article, I'm going to walk you through both the pros and cons of working from home as I see them.

The Benefits of Working from Home

  • Say Goodbye to Office Politics
No one is a fan of office gossip and politics. Between avoiding Sarah, the blabbermouth from Accounting, and competing with Scott, today’s office environment has become too toxic for some people. By learning how to make money working from home, however, you will never again have to deal with office politics.

  • Work on Your Own Terms
Although you will have to meet client deadlines while working from home, you’re not bound by the 9-5 life. You can choose when to work as you see fit. If you want to schedule your work between 10 and 6, that is entirely your choice.
Once you’ve found the best way to make money working from home, you have the absolute freedom to work the way you want. Do you want to go grocery shopping in the middle of the day? As a work-at-home individual, you can.

  • Spend More Time with Friends and Family
Another significant benefit of working from home is that you’ll have plenty of time in your hand. After all, you don’t spend countless hours stuck in traffic. This way, you’ll have an opportunity to spend more time with your spouse and kids.

  • Save Money
When you make money working from home, there are only a few expenses you’ve to deal with. Although you might have to invest in super-fast internet connection and a computer, it’s quite cheap. There are no expensive lunches, no transport costs, and no costly suits/clothes for work. For all I know, you can work in your shorts or even pajamas.
Less Stress = More Productivity = More Money
Sure, working from home still comes with a reasonable amount of pressure. However, the stress involved far much less than working in a traditional workplace. For one, you don’t have beat traffic every morning to get to the office on time. Best of all, you don’t have to deal with annoying coworkers or demanding bosses. With less stress, you can give your 100% and earn even more money working from home.

Challenges of Working from Home

  • It’s Hard to Stick to Your Schedule
If you’re not disciplined enough, it’ll become quite tricky to create a schedule and stick to it. The result will be less productivity and lower income. Remember the 9-5 model is perhaps the most useful work time-management tool.

  • Distraction from Family or Friends
This probably the most prominent downside to working from home. Distraction from the kids and friends who come by unannounced can really mess up your productivity.

  • You Deal with all the Work
All the tasks, from administrative and entrepreneurial to operative activities, have to be handled by one person: you.
