The importance of business communication

The transmission of information will occur in two ways. One internally, that is, between the members of the same, managers, departments, employees, etc .; another at an external level, with all the external actors with whom we must have a relationship.

When there is good business communication at all levels, organizations work excellently, since all the people involved know how to act at all times. This eliminates doubts, increases security, reduces errors, encourages motivation, interaction ... Therefore, it improves productivity and resolves problems in a way that is satisfactory for everyone.

Types of business communication

Just as not all organizations are identical and do not have the same needs, they do not use the same forms or channels of communication. There are different types, just as there are different entrepreneurs and companies.

Internal and external

It is the basis and that is why it has been mentioned before. The internal is the one that occurs between all the members of the company and the different departments.

On the other hand, the external one is the one that occurs with all external agents of the company, financial entities, customers, suppliers, public organizations, etc.

Senses ascending, descending and horizontal

In this case it will be necessary to attend to the situation in the hierarchy that have sender and receiver. In the case of the ascendant, the issuer will be an employee and the receiver a superior, since the message goes vertically from bottom to top, taking into account the hierarchical order.

When the opposite happens, that is, it is the superior communicating with the employee, it is when it is descending, since it goes vertically from top to bottom. The last case is different, which is that which occurs between people who occupy the same order within the organization; for this reason it is called horizontal.

Monodirectional and bidirectional

The bidirectional is the most common and the most used. It involves at least two subjects, transmitter and receiver, and both interact in the exchange of communication.

On the other hand, when a superior sends an order, only the sender acts, since there is no exchange between both, for this reason it is called monodirectional.

Formal and informal

The last type is also very usual and depends on who interacts. It is formal when it occurs externally with agents from outside the company, especially official bodies, financial entities and external services, it is usually used a more serious, respectful, legal, technical communication type, etc.

On the other hand, when communication occurs between colleagues of the same company, it is usually more colloquial and direct, since it is a more familiar environment. In this way, internally, the protocol rules are usually relaxed.

There are characteristics that define business communication are perfectly definable and are based on their correct use and the objectives pursued. Therefore, they will be established based on what is intended to achieve in the organization.

However, there are objectives that must always be present, that are in some way transversal and independent of the context. One of them is that the communication must be clear enough for the recipient to understand it. In fact, if this does not happen, communication loses all its meaning. Finally, to point out that the good emission and reception of the message always minimizes those misunderstandings that such a bad environment can generate in a company.
