WHAT IS THE ROLE OF YOUR BUSINESS IN THE SOCIETY? ORGANISATIONAL SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Both businesses and individuals have roles in the society. The main roles for businesses in a society are to provide employment, to reduce pollution and reduce discrimination among others. There is a difference between a business and an individual because the business is artificial. The manager is the executive of the business and he/ she bears the responsibility of managing the business (1).

A corporate is human and he has other responsibilities as opposed to the business. He/she has responsibilities towards his family, country, and church among others. All these are social responsibilities. A manager can have a social responsibility as a businessman. Individuals have other responsibilities to their society. These are behaving in the right way, environmental conservation and education of future generations.

One of the responsibilities is to be an example to other people in the society. For example, a person in a leadership position ought to act in the best way possible in front of his/her workers. The corporate ought to exercise respect, charisma, and integrity among other qualities. An individual in business ought to make sure that the price of goods in the society are standard. This action will prevent inflation. In every society, there are people who practice business. These people sell goods and services that benefit the members of the community. The business people should not inflate the prices.

Another role of people in the society is to conserve the environment. There is a lot of pollution in the world. Pollution causes global warming. Other activities that cause harm to the environment are burning of fossil fuels, overreaction, mining, desertification, deforestation, and overfishing among others. An individual has a role in conserving the environment. If the individual is running a business, he must make sure that it is a sustainable business.

An individual also has a role in contributing to education initiatives. The children are the future. Education is important for any society because it helps in innovation and poverty alleviation. People should contribute to funds and education projects. Some children come from less fortunate families and they cannot afford the luxury of going to school. Every individual should make sure that they aim to educate their younger generations.

Education shapes people’s lives by giving them the knowledge to pursue careers. Education equips people with life skills that are necessary for today’s dynamic world. Education helps people to shape their character so that they can become great members of the society. Every individual has a role to educate the younger generation. Education does not occur solely in the school syllabus but also in the community programs and training.

In conclusion, every business has a role to the society. The roles of an individual to the society are behaving in the right way, environmental conservation and education of future generations. An individual ought to have the right character and to be an example to other people. An individual should ensure that he/she conserves the environment. Every person has a role to play when it comes to the environment because it affects them in one way or another. An individual also has a responsibility of educating the young generation by contributing to education funds and getting involved with the children.
