Its all in the eyes...
Hi Steemians,
After some thinking i finally sat down to write my first substantial post. Its based on my experience on doing business here in Spain.
MY EXPERIENCE
After an extensive experience as a professional programmer for many years in many big companies, including Hewlett Packard i decided i wanted some excitment, my daily routine was just not providing me enough...
I decided to go entrepreneur without really knowing what was it all about. I had some ideas.
After all, i had been developing someone elses ideas for some time, and in my opinion i could do better. Big error.
During this painfull process of starting up your company nobody tells you the truth or facts about the business.
I am the proud owner of two online platforms in Spain, so i have walked the road.
THIS POST
If you are a curious entrepreneur and would like to hear my experience this is your post, here i will focus on the eyes and the book.
A NOTE ON SPAIN
Spain is different
This is a typical phrase here in Spain, and its a fact, that does not make things easier.
I wouldn't know where to begin explaining this fact, i guess its a combination of factors that make me think this way, government, peoples mentality and the lack of an entrepreneur tradition. Who knows, i am not here to change or analyze Spain.
READ THIS BOOK
Back in the early days of building my company i used to go to meetings thinking i had the gold treasure idea, which couldnt be told to anyone, in the fear they might steal it. Man was i wrong.
You want to do business with me ? Read this book.
After one of those endless day lasting meetings, a very interested investor grabbed me by the shoulder and took me to a separate room, there he told me something that helped me big time. "You want to do business with me ? Read this book." - Anonymous investor
I never found out why he did it, but he did. My biggest bet is that he was fed up of hearing me saying things that only pointed out my lack of experience. Its what i would do, imagine a five hour meeting hearing a newby entrepreneur with a good idea on his hand.
ITS ALL IN THE EYES
As an entrepreneur it is highly probable you will have to "sell" your idea to someone with the money and the understanding to invest in a creature like you. It is not easy, but if you can finally get one of this shark to sit down on the same room, your are on your way to materialize your idea into a business.
So, how do i know i have a good idea in my hands? I mean its something so subjective, and so many variables that affect the success or defeat.
Buts its the eyes, they dont lie.
First, if the meeting lasts for more than expected you are on your way. Five minutes meeting dont go anywhere.
Buts its the eyes, they dont lie. Good ideas in money making shark kind of business man make their eyes shine more silver paper, there you have it.
I KNOW
Yes i know i did not tell you about the book.
If this posts receives more then 20 upvotes i will come to the conclusion that its interesting to someone, and thus will edit the post with the Title of the book.
