THE ELEVATOR PITCH

Imagine this scenario: You want to get a job or just present your idea to a CEO. This CEO has a lot work to do and thus their time is limited. You get the chance to talk to them for 5 minutes. How do you convince them in a few sentences?

Hi and welcome every body! This is Caspar and I’m here to present you today the Elevator Pitch. With this technique you will be able to convince any person in a very short time. Usually these Elevator Pitches don’t take any longer than 20-30 seconds. So without further to do let’s get into it.

First of all you will need to tell what you or your organisation does. Identify your goal and what you do to approach it. This could sound like this: „I am a Digital Content Creator who provides Companies with Contemporary Approaches for Marketing Purposes.“ Nothing more. It should be as short as possible.

Next step is to explain your Unique Selling Proposition. This means that you need to highlight why the person should do business with YOU. To highlight the USP you need to talk about the advantages it has resulted for your clients. In my case it would be: „We use the newest technologies to achieve the customers needs such as Drone and Virtual Reality Content. This results with a contemporary and dynamic image of the company in every sector.“

The last step is to keep the pitch a conversation. You want that the listener interacts with you, so you can eliminate any uncertainties. This can be an open question such as: „What kind of content do you already publish online?“

When putting all this together it could sound something like this:

„I am a Digital Content Creator who provides Companies with Contemporary Approaches for Marketing Purposes. We use the newest technologies to achieve the customers needs such as Drone and Live Content. This results with a contemporary and dynamic image of the company in every sector. What kind of content do you already publish online?“

When you have your pitch you will need to practice and refine your pitch. It should really not be longer than 30 seconds. By keeping your pitch brief and simple you show your listener that you respect their time and you don’t want to waste theirs or yours.
