We at PlayStudio believe that the holistic development of the child is more important than exam results. What this means is that we focus on the overall development of the child. This includes soft skills, critical thinking skills and character development.
Conventionally, a child is measured by his or her exam results. If a child gets straight As, they will be labelled as 'good', 'smart' or 'capable'. Such measures have one small problem. It depends on how good or reliable an exam is.
So lets look at exams these days. It is not difficult to score well in exams, just memorize the entire book and go through constant practice. However, even if you can do that, exams do not prepare you for the future. Here's a simple test. Look for any first year A-Levels or university student, ask them if their final high school exam (SPM) helped them in scoring well for their first university exams. It is likely that the answer is 'no'. As such, it is better to learn skills that are not just study based, but skills that can help your child face such challenges.
PlayStudio is already doing this. We don't just teach our students, we mentor them to solve problems and think critically. This is because once they are able to think critically, they will naturally start to improve in their exam results as well.
