BANGER OF THE WEEK: Mergers, Acquisitions, Divestitures & Other Restructurings

Just as I was about to curse myself for choosing mergers and acquisitions as a subject of reading, the very skies opened and took pity upon a poor fool way beyond his depth. Provided was a detailed book outlining exactly what the field entails and how it functions.

The writing is crisp, direct and with lots of examples both theoretical and IRL that outline what takes place in (un)friendly takeovers - the details regarding leveraged buyouts are especially exciting because of the due diligence and valuation that goes into the whole process.

IRL examples from the most bone-dry industry on the planet, subleased office space, are made wonderously colourful by the book and I appreciate the fact that this subject was made much closer to me through it. The book does start a bit slow with the accounting basics of a business, but otherwise flows amazingly well.

Finally, I must commend the bibliography of the author as an extention of this book - all things about it make it a well deserved BANGER OF THE WEEK.
