Lake Toba
Lake Toba is the largest lake in Southeast Asia and one of the deepest lakes in the world. This large crater lake has an island nearly the size of Singapore in the middle, the island of Samosir. Samosir Island is a destination for studying history, such as stone graves and traditional villages.
One of the best tourist attractions in Indonesia, located at an altitude of 900 meters above sea level, it has a cool climate, away from heat, humidity and city pollution. At the end of the year, local residents usually hold the Lake Toba Festival. The festival is a cultural, tourism and sports event.
The forerunner to this event was the Lake Toba Festival which started in the 1980s and changed to the Lake Toba Festival in 2011. Since changing to the Lake Toba Festival, the location for the event has been held alternately in regencies in the Lake Toba region.
Wakatobi
Wakatobi Regency has been designated as a National Marine Park. Wakatobi has a total of 1.4 million hectares, 900,000 hectares of which are dotted with various types of tropical coral reef species. Wakatobi is widely known to have the highest number of reef and fish species in the world.
These islands are also known as the largest coral barrier in Indonesia, second only to the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. No wonder Wakataobi is one of the best tourist attractions in Indonesia.
Wakatobi is a dive center that offers an unforgettable experience. There are more than 50 spectacular dive sites easily accessible from the main islands. Wakatobi itself is said to have 942 species of fish and 750 species of coral reefs from a total of 850 world collections.
