This past week has been real wild for my beloved city Karachi, as it sees many events and cover with news. I’m gonna cover all of the news revolving around Karachi in this post.

1-PROTESTS TURNS INTO RIOTS

Inside the city there were many protests going around last week against the mob lynching of Pashtuns according to the protestors. The background of mob lynching is that, when a Sindhi costumer beaten to death by a pashtun owners.

However the major protests turn into riots, not only that but counter mob lynching made it an ethnic fight. Protestors also hurt government properties such as medical colleges buses. They burn down the point bus of JSMU (Jinnah Sindh Medical University). Also they damaged my college’s point bus too. And transporters are afraid to put their vehicles on the route and services of transport of certain colleges are down.

2-HEAVY RAIN

Soon after these monsoon season of Karachi started and rained a lot. As the infrastructure of the city is very damaged many problems occurred. Businesses stopped in these days because of accumulation of water not only in the streets but in the markets and houses. Death tally because of first spell of monsoon raised to 20 in Karachi and more than 150 in all over Pakistan. Heavy erupting rains are said to be part of climate change and its also been told that in upcoming seasons rains will be more heavier. In such time living in a city who has no infrastructure is really a challenge.

3-ELECTION FOR MAYOR AND LOCAL BODIES

In these times of destroyed infrastructure of city which is clearly visible in recent monsoon election to repair it is coming. Election for mayor and local bodies. Which will be held on 24th of July. People are fed up by old candidates so there are many new candidates among them is very hot Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman. Many believe he’ll win but it’s not that easy. As an old citizen said to me when I gathering peoples opinion about it “in country like Pakistan you never know what will happen next”. Let’s just hope for the best, may the deserving candidate wins.
