well first you'd just have to get a crap ton of it and freeze it... but then once the power goes out, you might be kind of screwed.

you have the right thing in mind. If it was sealed really well like vacuum sealed, it would be fine. It's actually a really good idea. Most of the "prepper" stuff I have seen involves military style MRE (Meals Ready to Eat) and powdered something or other. That's probably not as good for you, but easier to store.
