"Just because something is a thousand words doesn't make it better than one single word, because it is senseless."

One well thought out and meaning full word (or a few) is way better than many useless words. A one word post that is amazing is better than a post with a thousand word that are useless.

The following is excerpts and translations from the Dhammapada Buddhist scriptures. If you look around you can find many different versions of this scripture. The reason for this is that it can be translated different ways by different people with different perspectives.

I want to break down these lines and discuss the possible meanings that related to our lives.

Dhammapada Chapter 8 Verse 100 through 115
This particular translation is by F. Max Mulle. The original was written in Pali.

100 Even though a speech be a thousand (of words), but made up of
senseless words, one word of sense is better, which if a man hears, he
becomes quiet.

We should try to understand this and attempt to utilize it in our daily lives. This is basically saying that less can be more. Or more specifically that a few well spoken words is a lot more efficient than more meaningless words. We can relate that to SteemIt very easily. Better to post small meaningful posts over a long posts full of nonsense. More is not always better.

101 Even though a Gatha (poem) be a thousand (of words), but made up of senseless words, one word of a Gatha is better, which if a man hears, he becomes quiet.
102 Though a man recite a hundred Gathas made up of senseless words,
one word of the law is better, which if a man hears, he becomes quiet.

This goes along with line verse 100. It simply says that a well spoken (written) word can cause awe by the listener (reader). Gatha means to sing, speak or recite and is a Sanskrit word.

More to come later....

Yes, less is more and more memorable/sharable. When a post hits home with me, I want it to be easy to digest and straight to the point, so when I share it it's actually read by the folks I share it with :) thanks for the reminder!
