Clarity Consciousness - Life Isn't All Suffering

in #buddha5 years ago

Not knowing that you don't know is the key to breaking free from the bonds of suffering. This understanding catapults you into a clarity consciousness. It seems counter-intuitive, yet isn't.

This not knowing that you don't know regards the first truth. That is, suffering does indeed exist. The realization and clarity of the enormity of this truth is often enough to JOLT us into knowing! Suffering exists in various forms, and does pervade our lives, as it does the lives of all beings, great and small.

We suffer because we are born. Birth itself is suffering. Ageing is suffering. Desiring what we want, and not getting it, is suffering. Getting what we desire, in some form, leads to suffering. The illnesses we encounter along the path of life, both short and long-term, are suffering. The thought of death is suffering. Death itself is suffering.

Understanding this truth about suffering leads to the fact that you can drop the action of expending all the life-draining energy that is required to cover up this truth. That is, we go about our lives exhaustively draining our energy on doing everything possible blocking out the way life truly is. We do this mostly at a subconscious level. It is difficult to recognize this process, never-mind bringing it to a halt.

Yet, it isn't all suffering. Once this first step is understood, and we LET GO of the need to continuously deny this time consuming, life consuming and very exhaustive cover-up, we break the chain. We find the first hint of peace! We let go of our craving and our need to crave. We gain a victory. We relax. We experience the peace of it all! Maybe, for the first time.
