Here is the latest update on the performance of the instants account. We keep capturing information, obtaining data points and drawing up statistic. Even though we recently started collecting data, we feel we are able to make comments regarding short term trends at this point. First, let us start by pointing out the APR for today was higer, than the average we are carrying. We are wondering if this is the miracle of life or if Cas did a test that resulted in a huge payout today (12.305% APR). This bringing our long term (10 days) average up from 1.179% APR to 2.208% APR. Also, the number of payments was higher than average (10 vs 7.7). We are getting worried again that our average payment, number of payments and return per day are being dragged down but today offers a glimmer of hope. We are hoping long term with the plans to have the number of users of the site growing and verification working again, that the instants loan will be more used and we can get better returns. Speaking of, Verification is back online today meaning new investors can get verified and apply for instant loans. Let's watch how instant loan usage increases (particulary let's watch number of payments)
Also noteworthy is that by itself, the return for today was of 12.305% APR, which is nowhere the close to 0% returns we were getting. Also very important is that we have the very first day that the return is above 5% APR (and basically twice that and a bit more). We want that so we can make more on the instants than the savings account. We don't know if that is actually going to be a thing seeing that the more people that move into instants, the lower the payout is for each of them. And as many of you know, the savings account is coming to an end so everyone is going to flock into instants. Although the move into instants account from the savings account is nearing, we don't have an exact or proximate date yet. So seeing that there hasn't been a payout above 5%, we are a bit worried when the time comes we will earn considerably less. It is noteworthy however, that the rates are somewhat in line with what you would be getting doing margin loans on an exchange, so we think this is an good place to diversify to.
Regardless off, we don't expect this high returns to become the norm. We observe that the two payments that made the bulk of the return are in fact very close in time one from the other and of similar size... so probably the same user made two payments skewing our results. There isn't a particular factor that would make us believe this is the new normal, so although we are celebrating today's returns, we remain a bit pessimistic regarding the short term returns moving forward.
