The Central Bank of Norway announced that it will test technical solutions for digital currency (CBDC). The bank's announcement says that after a four-year research, the Central Bank of Norway in the next two years will test various technical solutions for the CBDC. The head of the Central Bank of Norway, Oeystein Olsen said that digital currency can enable a number of features in payments.

"To decide whether it is appropriate to create digital currency, we need additional information," he said. Many central banks around the world are researching whether to launch digital versions of national currencies, while according to the Bank for International Solutions (BIS), at least 52 countries around the world are working on this. Experts point out that China is ahead of other countries in creating digital currencies.

The European Central Bank is expected to decide in the middle of this year whether to launch a formal project for the digital euro. The Bahamas, meanwhile, was the first central bank to introduce the digital currency in 2020, the "Sand Dollar".
