A lesson plan can be define as a dialy guide to instruction for teachers. A lesson plan is usually simple in design with the aim of helping a teacher follow instructional order for effective delivery.
A lesson plan should cover the purpose of the lesson, nature and scope of the topic and most importantly time allocation for each segment of the lesson.

I would invite @manuelhooks, @okere-blessing and @bossj23 to participate in the assignment.

What material do you want to teach to students or to your child?

I teach pupils/students a many materials and different subjects.
In the primary school section I teach all subjects and in the secondary school I teach subjects such as business studies, commerce, computer science and English diction.

For the purpose of this engagement challenge I will like to teach the students characteristics of insect pollinated flowers.

The material will cover bothe the external and internal features of flowers, detailed study of insect pollinated flowers and pillination by insects.

Explain how you would design the opening activities, core activities and closing activities in a learning material?

Opening activities (5 minutes)

For my opening activities, I will like to introduce the lesson by asking the students questions based on their previous knowledge and at the same time try to tips in the new topic gradually.
I will bring in flowers of different colours and chart showing pollination by insect.
I will asked them to name the common flowers in their environment and also they will be asked to mention familiar insects around their environment.

Core activities (30 minutes)

The core activities will be tkae longer period when presenting the lesson. It will cover both the teacher's activities and student's activities and well as the breakdown of the lesson in steps.

StepsLessonsTeacher's activitiesStudent's activities
Step IExternal features of flowers availableI will lead the students to observe the different parts and colours of a given simple flowerThe students will examine the part and list the colour of flowers they are observed
Step IIDetailed study of insect pollinated flowersI will describe the features of a typical insect pollinated flower with illustration and their functionsstudents identify the part of the flower involves in pollination and mentions them
Step IIIPollination by insectsI will explain the process of pollination by insectsstudents will have to pay undivided attention while taking down some kep points

Closing activities (5 minutes)

In the closing activities, I will be evaluating the lesson by asking the students questions to test their understanding of the lesson. This I will do by involving my learners to answer some review questions like describing briefly the process of pollination and stating the general characteristics of insect pollinated flowers.

I will finally close the lesson by summarising it and stating the important point to note in the lesson and then give them homework.

What method will you use, explain why it is the most appropriate?

I will like to use discussion method in teaching the students just as you have seen in the sample above. Discussion method is most appropriate because it will make the students to think and be fully involved in the lesson rather than just receiving the information which at times may forget it in a short while and can also be distracted when the lesson is on going if the class is not interactive.
It is most appropriate because it will help the students think deeply about the topic and come up with something in their own words.
The discussion method will help the student to eagerly participate in the home and anticipate the next lesson.
Discussion method will help students to develop critical thinking abilities and to do more research on the topic.

What tools and media do you need so that learners can understand it well?

For the lesson to be more effective, I will bring in to class collection of diffrent flowers.
I will also use chart showing pollination by insect.
White board and marker as well as textbooks.
Using the media, I will download documentary of an insect pollinating a flower and play it to the students to view as what the students see as more impact on the learners than just hearing.

Conclusion

For a lesson to be successful, planning is needed and that is what is considered as important and basic. Every successful teacher spends time in planning his lessona and then give effective deliveries. Lesson planning should not be seen as an incident but as a conscientious and deliberate steps.
